Progress is being made on XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. We have word today that Michael Ferris and John Brancato have been brought on board to write the screenplay.
XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is getting off the ground with Terminator Salvation screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato in early talks to write a script that will reunite Vin Diesel with director Rob Cohen, reports Variety.
The writing team, whose credits include Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and the upcoming Jonathan Mostow-directed The Surrogates, began talks after pitching their take last Friday for a new installment in the action series to Columbia Pictures presidents Matt Tolmach and Doug Belgrad.
I wasn’t a fan of Terminator 3, and am doubtful that XXX 3 will be a better night at the movies. Screenwriters aren’t always to blame for how a film turns out, but I certainly watch for them a lot more than I used to. Good screenwriters over time have a list of films that they are able to be proud of. Some projects will suck, some will not make the translation to film from the page, but over time a track record of quality stands up. For example if I see the name of Harold Ramis - I am going to assume that the movie will rule based on his history.
For those of you that are genuinely excited about the XXX franchise (or those that have a morbid curiosity) I hope that this news has tickled your fancy and set your feet to dancing! Long Live Xander Cage.

I really enjoy Ben Stiller on screen. He is a relatable guy and almost always dead on funny. Not the greatest comedian of our era, but he leans to the respectable side of that list. So when I heard a while back that they wanted to do another Fockers movie I figured it was about time. But that was a year ago. Now the movie that looked to be based on the Newlywed Fockers having babies - Little Fockers - will also include at least one set of grandparents.
Fox News has “released” word that a sequel to Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers is happening. We already knew that was the case, since it was confirmed last year, but the news piece does add to it — Blythe Danner and Robert De Niro are returning. This means that last year’s news wasn’t a dream, and that Ben Stiller hasn’t forgotten about it, no matter what other projects he is busying himself with. We are getting more Fockers. We just don’t know if Babs and Dustin are in for the ride as well.
Now I really liked the chemistry of having the two sets of parents in Meet the Fockers, and if having the grandparents around at all I would hope that they could return to that dynamic. And I am sure that awkward Stiller daddy making diaper jokes and getting spit up on will always be funny.
But where do we draw the line? Is three milking the franchise or is it giving us more of what we want? I wouldn’t mind seeing more Fockers comedy, but is there really a big demand for this?
And since they announced this movie 18 months ago, is this news meaning its going to happen or just more talk?

Looks like the veteran writing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been given the job to pen the film adaptation of Robotech.
“Robotech” was a 1980s cartoon series from Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Prods. It was re-edited and re-dialogued to combine three Japanese anime series to give the producers enough episodes to air as a daily syndicated series.
A sprawling sci-fi epic, Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.
I kinda dodged out on the Robotech fascination in the 80s simply because I was more an avid fan of the Force Five cartoons. But nobody remembers the five shows that made up the Force Five rotation, and Robotech ws far more popular.
I was exposed to enough of it to understand it as most of my friends were rabid Robojunkies. I think with today’s technology and the designs and visuals we were given with Robotech will translate well into a blockbuster film. And at its heart, Robotech was just as much action and combat as it was a love story with Rick Hunter and Minmei, so bringing on story scribes like the Gough Millar team looks to be a good fit.
I became a big fan of Smallville (after I wrapped my head around the whole “this is not cannon” thing) and Gough Millar ran that show for some of its best years.

With Dreamworks and Paramount finally settling their divorce there is just one thing left to do. Move on.
So with that in mind, Dreamworks has set its eyes on a handful of projects that will be getting the majority of their attention in the near future.
lists here:
– “Motorcade”: Big names are looking to join the convoy on this story of terrorists commandeering the presidential motorcade in Los Angeles. The studio is in talks with “Underworld” helmer Wiseman to direct Billy Ray’s script. The ICM-repped Wiseman is on a hot streak after his “Live Free or Die Hard” earned $380 million worldwide.
– “Hereafter”: The supernatural-themed original screenplay by the Oscar-nominated Peter Morgan has been a priority at the new studio. And it could soon have a director, Eastwood, to whom the studio has reached out. Such a pairing would have the added appeal that it could go into production quickly given the helmer’s habit of shooting scripts after a minimum of development.
– “Dinner for Schmucks”: With original star Sacha Baron Cohen’s involvement wavering, the studio has reached out to another hot, and very busy, comedic actor: Carell. And director Jay Roach, who had long been attached, is considering coming back on board.
– “The Trial of the Chicago 7″: With a number of directors associated with it during the past year, DreamWorks hopes to attach a helmer quickly and get this high-priority project — which Steven Spielberg himself at one time was eyeing to direct — moving forward. Ben Stiller, fresh off the success of “Tropic Thunder,” recently has become the prime candidate.
– “Cowboys and Aliens”: The large-scale comic book adaptation is now being penned by writer-executive producers Kurtzman and Orci (”Transformers,” “Star Trek”), who took on the gig from “Iron Man” co-writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. Imagine is producing, and director-producer Ron Howard, who remains a long shot to lens the film, is developing the project for attached star Robert Downey Jr.
– “Real Steel”: The futuristic boxing movie is being penned by “Dante’s Peak” scribe Les Bohem, who created and wrote the Spielberg-executive produced Sci Fi Channel show “Taken.”
– “The 39 Clues”: The project is a potential Spielberg directing vehicle, though it’s still in script phase, with Jeff Nathanson only recently hired to adapt the first novel, “The Maze of Bones,” in the 10-book “Clues” series.
– “Button Man”: “Eagle Eye” co-writer Hillary Seitz has turned in her latest draft of this adaptation of a graphic novel written by Arthur Ranson and John Wagner. There’s one key advantage to it moving forward: Mark Sourian, DreamWorks’ new co-president of production, was the original exec on the project.
I don’t really care what studio is putting out the movies as one movie varies from another just as much as kids on the playground, it doesn’t matter who makes em.
Are there any on this list that make you curious with even these brief descriptions?
I really want to keep an eye out for Trail of the Chicago 7 and perhaps Buttonman.
You?

It seems back when we heard Universal Soldier 3 was being considered and that VanDamme would be reprising his role, we were told that the studio saw “no value” in bringing Dolph Lundgren’s character back too.
Well Lundgren himself had something to say about that.
Friends Blog says:
“Absolutely untrue,” Lundgren insisted, clearing the air with a surprise call to MTV News HQ. “I’ve met with the producers many times, and I AM the one resisting. I want it to be a good picture, and I’m working with the producers on the materials and trying to work it out. The truth is it’s still a script and I think it needs some work.”
One of the main sticking points, Lundgren said, was the size of the roles offered to both of the main actors from the original 1992 film which, according to JCVD, amounted to about “10 days of work.” Basically glorified cameos, Lundgren said.
“Neither me nor Jean-Claude were carrying the picture and I didn’t agree with that,” Lundgren told us. “I think we have to be in the film more to give the audience what they want.
Well said Drago!!
I like that even in days when Lundgren isn’t exactly lining up the big gigs he still has his integrity. He keeps busy, but he doesn’t want to be in this if its just a cameo that diminishes his character. If he is going to return, he wants it to be worthwhile - FOR THE FANS!
I can respect that. I worry that VanDamme is taking the gig because its a paycheque, but at least he won’t have to share the glorified cameo with JCVD. To have the two of them together in this movie and then have it be such a small part? Why tease us.
If you are going to do a third Universal Soldier, make it worth my time to pick it up! Gimmee a Dolph and Jean-Claude film worth of the franchise or leave them out altogether!

This isn’t movie related; but it is Thor related so I am throwing it up on the site. FTW. We get news this morning that the mighty Thor will be appearing on TV in the form on an animated series.
The plot of the series will find Thor defending his home of Asgard “against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants.” Moving through multiple worlds the show will feature such characters as Balder the Brave, the Warriors Three and Thor’s evil adopted brother, Loki.
Apparently, Marvel Animation is putting together “a 26 half-hour episode series based on its long-running comic book.” The idea is for the series to bow in the fall of 2010.
This cartoon series could prove to be a very useful advertisement for the Thor movie that launches in 2010. A good cartoon may be the best way to introduce youngsters to the thunder god (next to Simonson comics.) I have high hopes for this cartoon for personal reasons, I like the “funnies” and would be delighted if this series turned out to be as good as Batman: The Animated Series was.
26 shows is a decent run and I hope to see Beta Ray Bill thrown into the mix. If they retold the story of Stormbreaker (his hammer) on the cartoon - I would probably start to cry. In The Mighty Thor #339 Odin makes Bill his own hammer and most of the issue is spent with the All-Father making preparations for its construction. If you haven’t read this issue - do so.
International friends - what are your thoughts on a Thor cartoon?

Life is the process of finding love; every person will need to find four people in their life.
First person is you,
Second person is the one you love most,
Third person is the one who love you most,
And the fourth is the one you spend the rest of your life with…
In life, initially, you will meet the one you love most, and learn how love feels. Because you know how love feels, so you can find the person who loves YOU most. When you experienced the feeling of loving others and being loved, you will then know what it is you need most. Then you will find the person who is most suitable for you, to be able to spend the rest of your life with.
Sadly, in real life, these three people are usually not the same person.
The one you love most doesn’t love you.
The one, who love you most, is never the one you love most.
And the one you spend your life with, is never the one you love most or the one who love you most. He is just the person who happens to be at the right place at the right time.
Which person are you in other people’s life?
If this is true, I’ve already found the second and third person…

For the past week, I have learned lots of lessons. Well, life itself is a continuous process of learning which means a person who thinks that he knows it all is more like a complete fool or is ready to die.
Let me just share to you the lessons I’ve learned:
Never expect too much from anyone. Take each person as they come but never expect anything from them. In fact, accept them as they are.
Live for the moment and enjoy life as it goes. Know that everything, happiness or loneliness, will pass away. Understand that nothing is constant. By doing this, you will learn to accept hurt and heartaches. Forget the hurt but remember the lessons you’ve learned from it.
Never wallow in your heartaches and never let such things bring you down. It’s alright to cry but never dwell on those things. Remember that whatever it is that brings you unhappiness also brought you joy somehow.
Treasure all people that you’ve met no matter how short you’ve been with them or how little you knew about them. Sometimes, those people will help you get through a bad time than your long-time friends will.
Never aspire to become popular. Just be yourself and be as honest as you can towards other people. Remember that how you react on other people will reflect on how you interact with them. So be confident with yourself and never get intimidated with anyone.

Well, i was listening to Whitney’s music this morning and I heard this song once again:
I Know Him So Well
Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
Perfect situations must go wrong
But this has never yet prevented me
From wanting far too much for far too long
Looking back, I could have done it differently
Won a few more moments, who can tell?
But it took time to understand the man
Now at least I know, I know him well
Wasn’t it good, Wasn’t it fine
Isn’t it madness he can’t be mine
But in the end, he needs a little more than before
Security, he needs his fantasy and freedom
I know him so well
No one in your life is with you constantly
No one is completely on your side
And though I move my world to be with him
Still the gap between us is too wide
Looking back, I could have played it differently
Learned about the man before I fell
But I was ever so much younger then
Now at least, I know, I know him well
Wasn’t it good (oh so good), Wasn’t it fine (so fine)
Isn’t it madness he can’t be mine
Didn’t I know how it would go
If I knew from the start
Why am I falling apart
That song almost always makes me cry whenever I hear it. For one, the lyrics are too sad and it could happen to anyone you know. Hindi lang boyfriend or girlfriend, pwedeng sa friend or family. I was particularly hit by the two stanzas (naka-italics)…Haha! I guess, nagiging masyado na akong malulungkutin…
I’ve read two blogs this morning. One made me somewhat happy, the other made me somewhat sad. I guess, you really can’t have everything you want and try as you might to hold on to something (or someone, for that matter), may mga bagay talaga na dapat mong pakawalan…not because you want to but because you have to…
